Manager Vehicle Performance & Maintenance

Leads all maintenance and vehicle fleet performance activities including strategic plans related to maintenance and fleet operation for the business unit, and where required, multiple garages.

Engages maintenance teams in effective use of resources to ensure fiscal soundness through continuous improvement, development, and implementation of best practices, promoting the UTA Way culture.  Develops and coordinates continuous improvement strategies to create efficiencies and improved results in vehicle and personnel performance.  Responsible for recruiting, training, and developing effective employee performance and oversight in vehicle maintenance.  Trains and develops staff; creates rewards and recognition methodology and systems.  Develops and models productive employee relations.  Mentors and engages business unit personnel to improve the lives of employees, customers, and stakeholders.

Evaluates, oversees, and maintains maintenance programs consistent with the corporate mission and ensures that business unit maintenance department comply with state and federal laws, company policies and procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Conceptualizes and implements goals, strategies, policies, and procedures to improve the customer experience and organizational efficiency.  Prepares and administers the overall business unit maintenance department budget.  Develops cooperative and productive relationships with various internal and external departments regarding issues involving vehicle maintenance.  

Education/Training: Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical and/or business management field.

Experience:

Five years of management or supervisory experience.  Preferred experience includes demonstrated leadership in championing change; creating innovative practices to address inefficiencies; seizing opportunities for improvements in business practices; positively motivating and rewarding team members; implementing continuous improvement processes and practices; budget preparation; cost control; maintenance training; union labor relations; OSHA and safety; and scheduling.

AND

  • Five years as a Class A/Journeyist level mechanic in repair and maintenance of Heavy Duty Vehicles; or

  • Three years analyzing, tracking, and improving performance of a fleet, identifying failures and weaknesses and implementing needed changes.

This job requires regular and predictable attendance.
