Student Trainee (Energy Industry - IT)

This is a SUMMER 2018 internship position.

At time of application, applicant must submit proof of current enrollment in a degree-seeking program. If selected, applicant must provide proof of continuing education through either the Summer or Fall 2018 semesters.

Responsibilities

This position is located in the Division of Energy Market Oversight in the Office of Enforcement. The Office of Enforcement serves the public interest by ensuring effective regulations and protecting customers through understanding markets and their regulation, identifying and remedying market problems, developing analyses to identify market issues over the horizon, and assuring just and reasonable rates. In this role, the Energy Industry Analyst-IT will work with staff to improve and develop processes and information technology (IT) systems for collecting, organizing and presenting large collections of energy market data to the organization and public. The Energy Industry Analyst-IT will use knowledge of relational databases when conducting analysis of energy market data in large data collection systems and will work independently and in groups to present work on quality assurance programs for data collection systems. Major duties of the position:

  • Work with staff to improve and develop processes and information technology (IT) systems for collecting, organizing and presenting large collections of energy market data.
  • Knowledge of SQL, Python or RDBMS applications for use on data collection systems.
  • Work independently to prepare written and oral reports to summarize work on quality assurance programs for data collection systems.
