Transportation
Construction Inspectors serve in District Construction Units. This is technical work in transportation
construction inspection, bridge safety inspection, and materials testing of
Pennsylvania’s roadways. Duties include:
Performing
a variety of independent technical duties in the inspection of materials and
workmanship on transportation construction projects to ensure conformance with
contractor/surveyor requirements and established standards and specifications.
Testing materials for quality assurance; calculating materials used and
computing quantities of work performed to prepare documentation for contractor
payment; and training construction personnel.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
One year as an Engineering Technician;
Or One year of construction inspection experience and an associate’s degree
in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology;
Or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
(A bachelor degree in the engineering fields listed above will meet the minimum experience and training through equivalency.)
Conditions of Employment: Certain positions in this job require possession
of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
