Senior Database Administrator - Job ID: 314959

Job Description

The candidate recruited will serve as a Senior DBA in the Information Technology Division and will work with the development team providing database administration. Create technical database architectural and design documents. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing DB2/SQL software; testing and applying DB2/SQL fixpack updates; monitoring, managing, and maintaining backup and recovery schedules for database servers; and design and maintain data access control policies and ensure compliance with audit & regulatory policies. The job also requires production support and maintenance of Oracle RDB databases.

The candidate should possess 8+ years of experience designing and building databases.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

1. A master's degree in computer science from an accredited college and three years of progressively more responsible, full-time, satisfactory experience using information technology in computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, database administration, planning of data/information processing, user services, or area networks at least 18 months of this experience must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity in the areas of computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, data base administration, or planning of data processing or in the supervision of staff performing these duties; or

2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of experience as described in "1" above; or

3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or recognized accrediting organization and six years of experience as described in "1" above; or

4. A satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to "1", "2" or "3" above. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or recognized accrediting organization and must possess at least three years of experience as described in "1" above, including the 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described in "1" above.

Note

The following types of experience are not acceptable: superficial use of preprogrammed software without complex programming, design, implementation or management of the product; use of word processing packages; use of a hand held calculator; primarily the entering or updating of data in a system; the operation of data processing hardware or consoles.

Preferred Skills

Required Experience in DB2:

Strong experience with DB2 LUW 10.5 and above.

 DBA Experience using IBM Tivoli SAMP cluster.

 Experience with DB2 LUW utilities.

 Database maintenance activities like runstats, reorgs, backup, restore and rebinds.

 DB2 fix pack and database upgrades.

 Strong experience in handling large scale databases.

 Performance tuning using tools like db2expln, db2exfmt and db2advis.

Use advanced data mining techniques.

 Experience with shell scripting.

 DB2 Certification.

Desired Experience in MS SQL:

MS SQL Server DBA Experience:

 Installation, architecture, and configuration of MS SQL 2012, 2014 & 2016.

 Proactive and reactive performance tuning.

 Perform logical database design and physical database implementation.

 Development of automation and scripts to perform proactive maintenance.

 Application/SQL troubleshooting and tuning.

 Develop and implement Backup and Recovery Strategies.

 Review SQL code and database object designs against standards and best practices.

 Perform database administration from the command line, as well as through graphical tools.

Desired Experience in Oracle RDB:

Oracle Rdb 7.3, ODBC, Oracle Rdb Interactive SQL /services,RMU Management utility

 Understanding of OpenVMS & Oracle Rdb performance tuning concepts, proficiency with OpenVMS DCL and Batch Job Scheduler. Troubleshooting & analysis experience.

 Support high traffic database servers that require real time data retrieval.

 Open VMS, DCL scripting, OS System monitoring tools, System backup procedures, programming language C, the VMS debugger and, the Application Transaction Monitor (ACMS) operations and management.

 Knowldge in RDO, RDML, RDBPRE, Oracle Trace, Oracle Expert, Replication Options, Oracle JDBC for Rdb, Oracle Rdb Developer Tools for Visual Studio, Oracle Rdb Connectivity Management, Oracle Rdb Extension for Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g, etc., Knowledge of Oracle CODASYL DBMS for OpenVMS is an added value.

 Experience in Layered product skills - HP Code Management System (CMS),HP Digital Test Manager (DTM), HP Language Sensitive Editor/Source Code Analyzer (LSE/SCA), HP Module Management System (MMS), HP Performance and Coverage Analyzer (PCA).
