We are providing an opportunity for transfer or promotion to the following vacancy: Part Time Laboratory Coordinator – Electrical Engineering Technology. Any interested Madison College employee may apply at this time.

PSRP Salary Range B23 with a starting rate between $19.83 and $22.06 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Madison College offers a generous benefit program, however health and dental benefits are not provided for this position. The internal employee selected will serve a six (6) month trial period. This posting may be used to fill similar vacancies that occur within six months of the closing date.

Hours: This is a part-time position, 42 weeks per year, 19 hours per week. Schedule of Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm. Schedule is subject to change by the supervisor. Nights and weekends possible.

Organizational Function and Responsibilities:

This position assists the instructors and students in the Electronics and Electrical Engineering Programs. Considerable judgment, initiative and decision-making are involved. Part-time student employees report to this position.

This position reports to the Associate Dean of the School of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology.

Essential Duties:

The following duties are typically expected of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

1. Maintains an assigned laboratory and provides direction to students in the laboratory environment by answering student questions regarding lab processes and/or equipment; purchasing and maintaining necessary supplies; preparing materials for labs; installing, setting up, maintaining, storing and disposing of equipment and supplies; coordinating, maintaining and monitoring records; directing the work of student assistants; and, preparing student assignments.

2. Develop and implement an organization and inventory control strategy for the electronics department.

3. Create an environment in which students work safely.

4. Guide student employees with trouble shooting and repairing electronic lab equipment and inventory control.

5. Advise students of appropriate laboratory procedures and techniques.

6. Provides assistance to Instructor of Record in preparation, set-up and clean-up of laboratory activities.

7. Monitor student performance of specific tasks in order to evaluate skill levels and then provide instructors with feedback.

8. Maintain professional working relationships with other faculty and staff in the School of Applied Science Engineering and Technology.

9. Demonstrate a commitment to the college values of excellence, respect, commitment to students and diverse communities and making higher education available to all.

10. Represent the college at college sponsored functions as needed.

11. Other duties as assigned including occasional weekends and evenings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Experience in industry with electrical, programming or electronic systems sufficient to trouble shoot and perform minor repairs to laboratory equipment.

2. Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations.

3. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.

4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

5. Effective skills in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds, as well as individuals with disabilities.

6. Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

7. An interest in and/or experience with identifying and developing a system to organize and track electronic supplies and equipment for the Electrical Engineering Program.

Qualifications:

1. Associates degree in engineering or a related field.

2. Two years (4,000 hours) of related experience in a an electronics or electrical engineering setting.
