Madison College offers a generous benefits program; however, Medical and Dental insurance is not provided for this position. The individual selected will serve a twelve month introductory period. This posting may be used to fill similar vacancies that occur within six months of the closing date.

PSRP Salary Range B22 with a salary between $18.34-$20.40 depending on qualifications and experience.

Hours: This is a part-time, 28 hours per week, 52 weeks per year position. Monday-Thursday, 4:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Organizational Function and Responsibilities:

This position performs manual work associated directly with performance of a variety of custodial, grounds and campus related tasks as identified below. Work at this level is differentiated from that of other custodial positions by the degree of effort required to perform duties, degree of independence under which this position performs these duties and the variety of regional campus operation duties required of this position. Although overall work responsibilities are identified by the Campus Operations Manager, this position may adjust his/her daily routine in order to meet immediate, non-routine and emergency requests as necessary to provide services commensurate with this position.

This position reports to the Campus Operations Manager. This position may also direct the work of and receive assistance from student help, temporary help or work study personnel.

Essential Duties:

The following duties are typically expected of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

1. Performs general routine cleaning duties within the Madison College facilities and other leased or owned off campus facilities to include but not limited to the following:

• Dusts, sweeps and mops all hard floors.
• Vacuums and spot cleans carpeted surfaces and rugs.
• Cleans and empties all waste receptacles.
• Dusts, cleans and polishes all furniture, desks and cabinets.
• Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and fixtures.
• Clean up spills and other messes as required, including bio-hazards.
• Strips, mops and waxes all hard floors.
• Deep cleans all floors, furniture and other surfaces as required.
• Cleans and dusts woodwork, walls and fixtures.
• Cleans and spot cleans all windows.
• Cleans all entrances, lobbies, lounges and exit areas.
• Cleans and shampoos carpets and rugs.
• Places and cleans walk off mats as needed.

2. Performs general routine non-cleaning duties within the Madison College facilities, and other leased or owned off campus facilities, to include but not limited to the following:

• Performs room set-ups and tear-downs for scheduled events.
• Opens/closes building as required.
• Orders, restocks and maintains inventory levels of custodial supplies.
• Picks-up and sorts recyclable materials.
• Performs shipping and receiving duties for campus materials to include distribution of supplies, mail delivery and courier services between sites.
• Completes work orders and other administrative paper work.
• Updates doors with one card data.
• Repairs and maintains carpet, as needed.
• Acts as the point of contact for campus when campus office is closed.
• Assists in providing a safe and secure environment on campus for all students, staff, faculty and visitors.
• Responds to fire and security alarms. Serves as a liaison with any outside security vendor.
• Performs wall maintenance and painting.
• Performs forklift operation for deliveries and moving items where forklifts are available.
• Performs routine maintenance on mechanical instructional materials, such as motorcycles, as needed.
• Performs grounds maintenance and upkeep duties as needed in support of ensuring safe access to facilities and maintaining appearance in support of contracted services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of basic math and algebra.

2. Knowledge of basic electricity.

3. Knowledge of basic plumbing.

4. Knowledge of basic maintenance procedures.

5. Knowledge of proper use of hand and small power tools associated with custodial tasks.

6. Knowledge of basic safety procedures associated with custodial and maintenance tasks.

7. Knowledge of basic microcomputers.

8. Knowledge of small engine repair and maintenance.

9. Knowledge of chemical safety, OSHA regulations, blood-borne pathogens, and hazardous material regulations as required for the position.

10. Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds and those with disabilities.

11. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

1. HS Diploma, GED or equivalent.

2. Three (3) years (6,000 hours) work experience, directly related to the skills required for successfully performing the duties of this position.

3. OSHA forklift certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
